Ladies and Gentlemen,
Tomorrow morning (Friday March 31st) members of the Executive Board will be meeting with our Attorney to discuss the contract issues that are up for re-negotiation and also the negotiations on PMP. We will also have a meeting with labor relations in the afternoon reference these issues. The fun starts tomorrow. As progress goes on we will keep you informed. Please remember to check the Union board, email and the website for updates. If anyone needs to get in contact with either Vice President or myself our phone numbers are posted on the Union boards and the website.

News from our President.
I’m sure most of you have heard by now that one of our officers at DCA was involved in a shooting on the G.W. Parkway on 3/15/06 at approx. 1400 hrs. I just want to inform you that Corporal T. King is doing well and is currently on administrative leave. From the Union’s side of this event I want to inform you that Cpl. King was provided with a Union Attorney at the scene before any questioning and statements were made. The Union Attorney and I stayed with Cpl. King during the entire process of the investigation and he will continue to receive legal representation throughout the entire process. This is standard procedure anytime there is an on duty officer involved shooting.
I was informed today that he should be back to duty within the next few days or the beginning of next week. Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting was justified and there should be no issues with it. D.C. Police did make an arrest in the case last night and Park Police will be charging the suspect in the case.
Often times we take things for granted and think that this type of thing won’t happen here or to us. We have been very fortunate over the years however; it appears based upon our recent events at both airports that things are heating up. Ladies and Gentlemen, please be careful and mindful of what is going on around you. Make sure you take care of yourself and each other.
