At Dulles International the officers not only patrol the terminal buildings but are responsible for patrolling all of the businesses around the airport, the Dulles Access Highway, portions of the Dulles Toll Road, sections of Route 28, and thousands of undeveloped acres of land that the Airports Authority owns.

At Reagan National the officers are tasked with patrolling all of the terminals in addition to the roadways and higways leading to and surrounding the airport.

SOU/SWAT/MOTORS

The members of this highly skilled and trained unit are frequently challenged with unique situations.  They often find themselves working special detailed operations such as providing dignitary protective services.

K-9

Our K-9 unit is comprised of some of the best handlers and dogs in the country and is often utilized by several other police agencies for special operations and calls for service.  They play a vital role in maintaining safety in and around the airports.

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

The detectives assigned to this unit spend countless hours per year working on specialized cases.  In addition to working both Washington Metropolitan area airports they also serve on mult-jurisdictional task forces.

EVIDENCE TECH's

Select patrol officers are collateraly assigned as Evidence Technicians and are available 24 hours/day.  These officers play a vital role in solving cases and their specialized training is utilized to bring criminals to justice.

 

 

CIVIL DISTURBANCE

These select officers are trained to handle riot situations should they arise.  In addition they assist many jurisdictions specialized detailed operations such as Presidential Inaugurations and World Bank meetings.

 

 

FIEILD TRAINING

Upon graduating the 20 week training program at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy, graduates are assigned to a field training officer for a rigorous 9 week on-the-job training phase.  Only graduates that successfuly complete all of these steps are certified as police officers.
